Pinot Gris is one of the key white varieties in Lodi.  The Mediterranean climate sees warm, sunny days allowing for optimal ripening, but the cool winds off the Pacific Ocean travel inland over a network of waterways, acting as a natural air conditioner and creating a cooler climate which helps grapes maintain good acidity.  The cooler climate, sunny days and loamy soils are ideal for Pinot Gris.
